WANTED: One adult who can stand in the room
Our #1 challenge, pre-COVID, was that our cadets missed
community service, recruiting, color guard training, robotics,
guest speakers at local universities, and
emergency services training because we need at least two
adults present who have been trained in cadet protection.
Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or teachers who can help
with transportation and/or basic supervision, and/or
photographing/video recording events, our cadets would love to
help you pay the $35/year sponsor membership fee.
Wearing the CAP "corporate" uniform is optional.
WANTED: Adult mentors and officers
If you're interested in the full CAP program, including being
able to earn rank, wear Air Force distinctive uniforms,
hold an official duty, do professional development,
and/or emergency services, we would love you to
join as a full member ($65/year).

The adult corporate uniform for full members is gray
slacks, a CAP navy blue polo ($37-$48 plus $9 for optional
embroidery), black boots or dress shoes, socks, and belt.
Any dark blue polo is adequate for getting started.
Adult members may also opt to wear
gray tactical pants.
If U.S. Air Force grooming standards can be
met, adult full members are encouraged to wear
an ABU, blues, or aviator uniform to special
events to coordinate with cadets. Pilots may
wear a CAP flight suit when appropriate.
WANTED: Cadets!
Cadet membership (ages 12 through 20 if
you join before age 18) costs $35 per year
plus uniform costs (see below).

You can also begin assembling your uniform; see details below.
Before COVID-19, we met Wednesdays at Anderson airport
from 6:30-9:00 PM. We hope to resume that someday,
but currently the airport is closed to us. We are meeting
at a new location until things shake out.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of age
or ability. See our home page for
a detailed list of our other activities.
All activities are optional.
C.A.P. has a history of inclusion and
we do not haze. Have a conversation
with squadron leaders about how
we can properly and discreetly
accommodate any special needs.
When you are ready to register, all
the details you need will be provided.
Additional expenses are listed below.
Motivated/creative parents and grandparents
are welcome, too! Click this link for details.
Assemble a uniform
We have some ABU* pieces on hand, but cadets need
all-black, military-style boots** ($20-$150), boot socks, a
sand-colored t-shirt, and an ABU cover (~$8). We can
provide a name tape ($5), an IN Wing patch ($3),
and a Civil Air Patrol tape ($2).
Wearing the uniform reinforces our
core values, helps cadets feel a part of the team,
and is required to begin the free orientation flights.
Until you have a complete utility uniform, you can wear
black trousers or skirt, a white blouse or button-
down shirt, black socks, belt, and black shoes.
The only exception is PT night: wear black
shorts, tan or black t-shirt, and running shoes.
After your first promotion, you will receive
a $100 voucher toward the purchase of a blues
uniform, which is usually around $175. See
https://cap.vanguardmil.com for components you
will buy. As with the ABUs, we may have a shirt or
trousers on hand, and you may be able to find some
components elsewhere. Sizing charts are here:

*Woodland green BDUs were phased out June 2021.
There is no plan to move to the newer OCP pattern.
**Affordable, quality boots can be a real pain to find. Walmart $42.
Kmart $30-45. More expensive options include Work Wear in Muncie,
Indianapolis Army-Navy, and, of course, Amazon and other online
options; just be sure to search for high ratings and quality reviews.
Note that boots with a zipper are easier to put on and take off.
Optional First Aid Certification
Our squadron would like to be Emergency Services qualified.
If you are at all interested in search-and-rescue training, let us know
right away so we can include you in the next first aid training group.
We usually get a much lower rate than the
typical Red Cross course, usually under $50.
Optional E.S. Training Gear
Our squadron would like to be Emergency Services qualified.
There are many duty assignments available to train for.
Read Simple Steps to Emergency Services for details. The items
on the packing list make excellent birthday and Christmas gifts.
